Install XP on SATA but go no floppy drive for OEM files? (2)

This is a my experience on installing XP on newer laptop with latest SATA device.

What I have is a Acer Aspire 4720 laptop with AHCI.

  1. Download Intel AHCI floppy driver from here. Extract the files to C:\AHCI
  2. Download nLite from here. (Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 might be required)
  3. Make a directory in your hard drive. I use C:\XPSP2
  4. Copy all the content of the XP installation CD to C:\XPSP2
  5. Start the nLite program. Click Next at the Welcome screen.
  6. On the Locating the Windows installation, select C:\XPSP2 folder and click Next. This will start the checking process. Click Next after all the info has been collected.
  7. On the Preset screen, you will be asked to use the last session, don't select anything. Just click Next.
  8. On the Task Selection, click the Drivers and Bootable ISO options
  9. On the Drivers screen, select the Insert button, and choose Single driver.
  10. Locate the driver files at C:\AHCI
  11. In the Storage Device Textmode driver screen, make sure the Mode is set to Textmode and use the Ctrl key to select all the available drivers. Then click OK.
  12. When back at the Drivers screen, just click Next.
  13. A popup will ask if want to continue. Just click Yes.
  14. At the end of the process in the Processing screen, just click Next.
  15. If no further change is required, just click on the Make ISO button to save your ISO image.
  16. Burn the created ISO image with your favorite ISO burner program.
Cheers!
